Barclays Premier League Results

The Barclays Premier League is always fascinating to follow, and this week was no different. There were several interesting matches – and rather shocking results – from the Barclays Premier League and we are going to go through a summary of them right here in this article. Let’s have a look, shall we?

With the signing of the team’s new striker Luis Suarez, Liverpool successfully defeated Stoke with a superb final score of 2-0. Liverpool was having trouble controlling the match until the team’s first goal on the 47th minute, but it was smooth sailing after that. Only 16 minutes after entering the match on the second half, Suarez scored another goal for Liverpool and sealed the victory.

A rather shocking result came from the match between Blackpool and West Ham. Blackpool was showing superb performances the past couple of matches, and the match against struggling West Ham should be the perfect opportunity to improve the team’s goal difference. However, the match didn’t go as expected because West Ham dominated the entire first half and quickly scored 2 goals on the 24th and 37th minutes. Blackpool scored a goal just 42 minutes into the first half in an attempt to retaliate, but West Ham quickly scored another goal just two minutes after.

Other matches were just as interesting. Birmingham successfully held Manchester City to a draw with a final score of 2-2. Tottenham won their match against Blackburn by a single goal, and Fulham successfully defeated Newcastle 1-0 after an intense match.

Liverpool vs. Stoke

The expectations were high with the signing of Luis Suarez from Ajax, and apparently they have been answered in full. Luis Suarez scored the first goal in his debut match for Liverpool; the match was against Stoke last weekend and it was a spectacular one nonetheless.

It has been quite a while since the last time we see a talented Liverpool striker that can be matched with the notorious Fernando Torres. After Torres left, Liverpool was continuously searching for the best man to be the tip of the spear for this team. It is certain now that Suarez is the best man for the job, especially after he showed a spectacular performance during the match against Stoke.

It was Meireles who scored the first goal of the match. It is clear that fans and players still think about Torres during the early minutes of the match. Liverpool appeared to be playing under a huge stress. 47 minutes into the first half, Gerrard provided a superb opportunity and Meireles ended Liverpool’s frustration in an instant.

Suarez enter the match on the 63rd minute. Only 16 minutes after his introduction, Suarez scored the second goal for Liverpool and perfectly sealed the victory for the team.

With this match ended victorious, Liverpool is hopefully starting its streak of victories over the next couple of matches. The team is currently in 7th position, but it is not difficult at all to climb up the championship ladder with the current squad and only fractions of point differences.

Gary Neville Retires!

After a long and glamorous career with Manchester United, defender Gary Neville suddenly announced his retirement from professional football. The 35-year-old player will end his career with Manchester United after a superb total of 602 appearances since his debut in 1992. He was signed by Manchester United in 1991 and he spent most of his time as MU’s primary defender.

“I am disappointed that my playing days are at an end. However, it comes to us all and it’s knowing when that time is and for me that time is now,” said Neville. His decision to retire certainly shocks everyone including Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, but even the most avid MU fan accepts Neville’s retirement gracefully.

One of the highlights of Neville’s career was actually his first season. He was one of the players who won the FA Youth Cup on 1992. The team was solid indeed, with top players including David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes being part of it.

There is no doubt that this is a huge loss for Manchester United, especially since Neville is also noted as perhaps the best right-back in the history of Premier League. Other MU players and Sir Alex Ferguson himself are thankful for what Neville has contributed to the team the past several years, and they all admit that this will be a great loss for Manchester United.

We might still see more of Gary Neville, especially since he is now offered a position as the reserve-team coach at United, replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has returned to Norway to take charge at Molde.

Serie A Fixtures: February 5th and 6th

Being one of the most popular football leagues in the world, the Italian Serie A is always interesting to follow. We can expect to see some spectacular matches this weekend, especially since there are several top teams that are scheduled to compete on Saturday and Sunday.

Don’t forget that there is a Bari vs. Inter Milan match scheduled to be played on Thursday, a perfect starter for another fantastic Serie A weekend. On Saturday, Udinese will be playing Sampdoria. Both teams are determined to win since a victory (and the 3 points that come with one) will certainly improve their position in the league. Juventus, on the other hand will be playing Cagliari on the same day.

The highlight of this Sunday’s Serie A would be the match between Inter Milan and Roma. It is one of the biggest rivalries we can see in the history of Serie A and it will certainly be interesting to see a match between these two teams.

AC Milan will be playing Genoa on Sunday, while Brescia will be up against Bari just slightly earlier. We can expect very interesting matches between these competing teams for sure. Bologna, on the other hand, is scheduled to play against Catania also on Sunday.

Other matches, including the match between Lazio and Chievo and of course the big match between Parma and Fiorentina, are also worth watching. This will certainly be an interesting Serie A weekend with a lot of fantastic matches to enjoy throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Spanish Football Results

We have some of the most interesting matches in the Spanish Football League this weekend, with top teams pursuing the first place in the league. If you missed some of the best matches this weekend, here are a few results from the Spanish La Liga.

Osasuna shockingly defeated Real Madrid on Sunday, January 30th, with Camunas scoring a fabulous goal for the team. It was a rather rough match nonetheless, especially since the only goal in the match was scored 17 minutes into the second half. Real Madrid players tried hard to score an equalizer, but Osasuna’s defensive line proved to be rather effective against the attacking players.

Toquero Pinedo scored two goals and led Athletic Bilbao to victory in a match against Atletico Madrid also this Sunday. The first goal was scored at the very last minute of the first half, creating a huge psychological shock for Madrid’s players. Pinedo then sealed his team’s victory by scoring another goal on the second half.

Just one day earlier, Barcelona scored a fantastic victory in a match against Hercules, with a 3-goal lead against its opponent. It was Pedrito who scored the first goal for Barcelona 43 minutes into the first half. Messi then did a memorable thing by scoring two goals only two minutes apart.

The highlight of last week’s La Liga was of course the match between Deportivo La Coruna and Sevilla. Both teams were equally strong and determined, resulting a very interesting match to watch. The match ended with a 3-3 draw.

French Midfielder Sessegnon to Join Sunderland

Even though the January transfer window is not as glamorous as the pre-season one that is over, top teams in the British Premier League are still competing for some of the best players in the world to gain bigger competitive advantage against rivals. Sunderland is no different, and they have successfully signed French midfielder Sessegnon with a contract worth £6 million.

Sessegnon shows superb appearances during his time with PSG. He joined PSG in 2008 and played a total of 76 games for the team. Because of his superb performances, Sunderland’s management showed interest and quickly tried to acquire Sessegnon.

The long awaited agreement has finally been signed just a few days ago, with the contract value being reported at a staggering £6 million. The 26-year-old player will soon join the Black Cats and strengthen the team’s midfield even more.

“Stephane can play on the left, on the right, through the middle – he’s lightning quick and he’s a match-winner,” said Steve Bruce, Sunderland’s manager. Sessegnon is indeed very quick and will be a great addition to Sunderland for sure.

We still have to wait for a couple of weeks before you can start seeing Sessegnon’s top performances, but it will be very interesting to see how Sunderland can improve the team’s position in the Premier League with this young player supporting its midfield.

“His ability to slot in across attacking positions makes him a great addition to what is a young and hungry squad,” added Bruce about Stephane Sessegnon.
